Bio
Gian-Luca Mariottini is an Assistant Professor at the Computer Science and Engineering Dept. at the University of Texas at Arlington.
His research focuses on
control theory and computer science and in particular,
vision-based robot (and multi-robot) control and localization, medical robotics and human-robot interfaces and image-based solutions for companies.
From October 2008 to May 2010 he has been a PostDoctoral associate at the MARS Lab working with Prof. Stergios Roumeliotis (Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University of Minnesota) on designing a localization-aid for the visually impaired, on robot navigation and active location recognition for visual servoing.
Gian-Luca Mariottini obtained his Ph.D degree from the University of Siena, Department of Engineering Information under the supervision of
Prof. Domenico
Prattichizzo. He is affiliated with the System and Control Group
and with the Siena Robotics and System Lab (SIRSLab). He was a Visiting Scientist at the
GRASP Lab (CIS Department, UPENN,USA) under
the supervision of Prof.Kostas Daniilidis.
From December 2007 until September 30th 2008, Gian-Luca was working on a one-year appointment on the SWAN project (in collaboration with Prof.Frank Dellaert and Prof. Bruce Walker, Georgia Tech).
