*        University of Maryland Graduate School Fellowship awarded to incoming full time graduate students on basis of merit, 2000-2002.

*        MSc program granted by FAPESP in recognition of an approved research project by Scientific Committee, 1997-1998.

*        MSc program granted by CNPq and the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP) in recognition of a selection by Graduate Committee of the Institute of Computing, 1996-1997.

*        Placed among the Top 10 Finalists in the 2006 Science and Engineering Visualization Challenge, Non-Interactive Media category, organized by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and Science Magazine with the video “The Language of Human Movement”.

*        2002 Outstanding Teaching Assistant for the College of Computer, Mathematical and Physical Sciences - UMD.

*        Ranked 6th in the 6th Competition of Master Thesis organized by Latin-American Center of Studies in Computing - UNESCO, 1999.

*        Ranked 1st and 3rd in the Best Work of Scientific Initiation Prize granted by State University of Ceará (UECE), 1995.

*        Ranked 4th in the 12th Brazilian Mathematics Olympiad - Senior Class, 1991.

*        Honor Merit Award and Graça Couto Medal granted by the Brazilian Army to the best student of the Military School of Fortaleza, 1991.

*        2nd place in the 8th Mathematics Olympiad of Ceará State - Junior Class, 1988.
