Doing MS Projects on
Object-Oriented Software Testing or
Object-Oriented Real Time Systems Modeling and Verification
Stundents who want to join our research teams can email to either Dr. Hsia
or myself. Usually, I will examine the student's file to see whether her/his
background matches our research requirements. This would take about one
week. Then I will contact the student.
A new team member will be assigned a mentor to help on lab and/or
project work. In our lab, Mr. Chinh Nguyen can help you on documents
and perhaps desk assignment. Mr. Hwan Wook Sohn can help you on
computer accounts creation and Mr. Chien-hung Liu can help you on
computer systems usage problems. New accounts will not be created
unless approval is obtained from Drs. Kung or Hsia.
A student may graduate with a project option in software engineering by
doing a project in one of our research teams. As you may know, teamwork
is one of the most important characteristics your future employer will
be looking for. The student may finish the project work in two to three
semesters (Directed Study and Special Topic Course may be taken in one
semester, i.e., in the first semester):
- In the first semester, the student may use the "Directed Study"
course to learn more about our research project(s). With this course,
the student will read documents and papers published by the project and
attend our project team's weekly meetings. To enroll in a Directed
Study course, you need to submit a proposal at least two weeks (this is
changing all the time, please check with Pam mcbride@cse to play safe)
to Pam. I include a sample
proposal for your convenience.
- In the second semester, the student may register in a special
topic course (CSE 5392 or CSE 6392) devoted to our research projects.
The student will find solutions to research problem(s) related to
her/his MS project, and conduct requirements analysis and software
design.
- In the third semester, the student will implement and test the
component, conduct code review, and write a project report.
The Directed Study was previously called Individual Study which was taken for
a letter grade of ABCDFX (not Pass/Fail grade). It requires that the student
submit a proposal for approval three weeks before the new semester begins.
