Introduction to Computer Science and Engineering

Instructor's Notes/Messages:

1. WELCOME to CSE 1105 Introduction to Computer Science and Engineering!  The purpose of this class, as indicated by its title, is to introduce new undergraduate students in the engineering field to some of the elements of the engineering learning experience at UTA.  The course will be organized around a series of guest lectures from UTA faculty and staff personnel who are experts in a field of interest in your engineering studies. Additionally, through a series of mandatory hands-on laboratory assignments, we will learn the use of some of the tools available to you, while fulfilling the state's Computer Use Proficiency requirements.

2. This Web site will serve as your authoritative reference for course materials throughout the semester. To the extent possible, we will NOT rely on printed materials and email.

3. In general, the lecture and laboratory schedule for the two sections of this course will be synchronized.  However, due to speaker availability, holidays, etc., this may not always be the case.  Please consult the online syllabus and this page for information on changes that may occur throughout the semester.

• Oral Presentations Lab -  Three part lab exercise involving teamwork, research, and presentation skills.  Completion of this lab also accomplishes the CUP requirements for Library, Internet and Email.

• Infinity Lab -  You will be given instructions for the Infinity lab by your lab instructor in the lab during your scheduled lab session.  It is recommended that you review the Infinity slides (linked at left) before your lab session.
