J. Michael (Mike) O'Dell

Mike O'Dell joined the Computer Science and Engineering faculty at The
University of Texas, Arlington beginning in August 2001, after over 20 years of
computer industry experience. Mr. O'Dell specializes in the area of computer
networking, and also serves as a graduate advisor. Prior to joining UTA he
served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Bynari, Inc., a Dallas based
software company which develops Internet standards-based email and workgroup
collaboration products for the Linux and Unix market. Prior to Bynari, Mr.
O'Dell was at eOn Communications Corporation, a Memphis based telecommunications
hardware and software company, where he was President and Chief Executive
Officer and a Director. He joined eOn in October 1997, and led a re-structuring
of the company's business to focus on call center applications built on a
Linux-based communications server platform. During his tenure at eOn, he led the
process to complete a highly successful IPO. From May 1993 to October 1997, Mr.
O'Dell held management positions at VTEL Corporation, a visual
telecommunications company in Austin, Texas, most recently as Vice President and
General Manager for the Enterprise Systems Division of the company. Prior to
VTEL, Mr. O'Dell was Vice President, PC Products at Dell Computer Corporation,
and before that held various programming and product management positions with
IBM in the OS/2 and LAN development laboratory in Austin. Mr. O'Dell received a
M.S. in Computer Science from the United States Naval Postgraduate School and a
B.S. from the United States Naval Academy.
