Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) Lecturer (Sept 2001 - present)

Teach Intermediate Programming, Algorithms and Data Structures, Artificial Intelligence, and Introduction to Computer Science. Classroom instruction, administration, and syllabus, test, lab and quiz development. 

Faculty advisor for Society of Women Engineers.

CSE Undergraduate Advisor (Aug 2001 - present)

Advise on course selection and verification of eligibility. Assist students in registration for CSE courses.

CSE Director of Outreach(Sept 2001 - present)

Manage annual CSE@UTA Robot Programming Contest for area high school students.

Manage CSE Infinity Project program implementation for CSE department freshmen.

Manage CSE@UTA mentoring program for Spring 2002 first-year freshmen.

Work with department as needed to support activities for potential students.

Automation and Robotics Research Institute - UTA (ARRI) Jan 1990 - June 1992

Faculty Associate (January 1990 - June 1992)

Next Generation Controller (NGC) - Develop, jointly, architecture and specification document for integration of information base facilities in an NGC. Contributed to development of schema and documentation for NGC.

Concurrent Engineering - Develop expert executive for concurrent engineering system focusing on conflict resolution.

Part Data Driven Controller (PDDC) - Design, knowledge acquisition, and prototype of abrasive waterjet (AWJ) knowledge base (KB) for robot task planning. Refinement of PDDC system architecture.

Project SEED June 1992 - August 2001

Coordinator (Jan 1995 - August 2001)

Support local Program Director in development and implementation of local planning, policies, and procedures. Write proposals and other documents for initiating and entering into contracts with school districts. Design and develop presentations about Project SEED for meetings with contracting organizations and for presentations about the program at conferences and other events. Develop and help implement plans for internal restructuring of organization. Provide managerial review and feedback to specialists.

National Liaison (June 1995 - present)

Write, edit, and review documents for publication about Project SEED. Support National Director in quick turnaround writing and research tasks. Review and analyze evaluation results published about Project SEED. Coordinate activities and facilitate communication between SEED sites. Plan and write Web page to create an Internet presence for Project SEED. Attend local and regional educational forums including Urban System Initiative meetings, various conferences, and university recruiting events representing and giving presentations on Project SEED.

Mathematics Specialist (June 1992 - present)

Assist in planning, scheduling and implementation of all local Project SEED contractual obligations. Promote Project SEED to schools, administrators and board members. Write and edit newsletters for community dissemination. Organize internal training and work on evaluations, special events, presentations, and teacher training. Develop, jointly, national level SEED curriculum. Teach algebra to fourth through eighth grade classes using Socratic discovery techniques in the Project SEED enrichment program in Dallas ISD. Plan lessons. Critique other SEED instructors. In 1983-1985 as a full-time employee of Texas Instruments, worked one hour daily as a corporate volunteer mathematics specialist with Project SEED.

Software Design and Knowledge Engineer (April 1986 - January 1990)

Integrated Strike Planning System (ISPS)  - Design and prototype of ISPS weaponeering and targeting expert systems using the Automated Reasoning Tool for Naval strike planning. Knowledge acquisition from in-house and customer experts. ISPS demo design participation.

A Real-Time Embedded Inferencing System (ARTEMIS) - Lisp design and prototype of real-time embedded artificial intelligence (AI) software development tools for real-time AI architecture.

Pilot's Associate (PA) - Architecture design participation on PA multiple expert system pilot aiding for single seat jet fighter. Automated Reasoning Tool design and implementation of system executive expert system to control PA multi-agent planning system. Customer presentations, design and specification discussions. Technical management of one system and one engineer.

Software Design Engineer (July 1983 - April 1986)

M-1 Fire Control (M1FC) - Implementation of autocuing algorithms for simulation and breadboard of M1FC tank fire control system. DEC Command Language design and implementation of fire control system simulation driver.

Worked full-time at Texas Instruments during degree and moved to TI AI lab after AI classes.

Math-oriented BA in CS. Numerical solutions, program verification, digital logic, and classical logic.

Minor in business. Supported myself with scholarships and work.

Presentation and public relations skills; Structures and delivery strategies for presenting staff developments; Management and promotional skills; Coordination and supervisory skills. Project SEED Socratic group discovery methodology, Project SEED philosophy and student psychology, six (6) levels of Project SEED advanced mathematics curriculum, spiral curriculum development, techniques for i) promoting discovery learning, ii) motivating students, iii) managing a classroom, iv) creating a positive learning environment.
