• Using the patented invention without permission of the patent holder

• “Cease and desist” -- demand the infringement be stopped

• Proving infringement in federal district court

  • Does a patent exist
  • They are the legitimate holder of the patent
  • That what was done constituents infringement

• Award of damages -- at least an amount equal to a reasonable royalty for use plus interest
