CSE 1105 Group Presentation
Ground Rules
Before
the presentation
Plan the presentation thoroughly,
including the timing (11 to 13 minutes)
Be sure there is a speaking role for
each member of the group
(e.g., an interview, a
survey, a way to involve the audience)
Organize your presentation by giving the background of the topic, pointing out controversies which surround it, and presenting pros and cons of the controversy.
Plan and carry out an activity associated with the
topic
Know that each team member is being
evaluated by every other team member
Presentations
will be in room 315 NH. What’s there?
There is a PC running Powerpoint
connected to a PC projector.
There’s an overhead projector.
There are white boards.
(If you let me know beforehand, we
can have a VCR with TV set, zip drive, etc.)
There will be a video camera to
allow taping the presentation.
(You can view your presentation later if you wish.)
Ground
rules for the presentation
Start the presentation with an
introduction of the group topic by the first presenter
Follow with an introduction of each
member of the group by the first presenter –
clearly so that this could
be understood on the tape.
As each group member starts his/her
presentation, do another introduction.
Speak slowly and clearly.
Make it interesting (please!)
Remember you are teaching others in
the class about your topic.
Make clear what the group’s activity
was.
At the end, have one member of the group summarize
the topic.
Class
members viewing the presentation will be asked to evaluate the presentation on:
Interestingness
Clarity of presentation
… and other items which the class
will decide
(You can review the comments on your group’s
presentation later if you wish.)
