
Policies and Rules
- Students enrolled in CSE 4316 will be given full access
to the lab when the teams begin their rapid prototype development, and
will continue through CSE 4317. Prior access will be on a needs basis,
and controlled by the lab assistant and/ or instructor.
- In addition to your "cse" account, each student
will get an account on a www server to create a home page and progress
reports.
- Each team will be given an account on a www server to
create a home page for the team. All submitted documents must be on line.
- A computer system will be assigned to each team. Team
members will be responsible for the software contents of their system (including
viruses!).
- Only students in CSE 4316 (when granted access) and CSE
4317 may use the lab's computer systems, and then only for their project
related effort.
- No utilities, application programs, or files of other
teams should be deleted, except in the scratch subdirectory.
- No games of any sort may be played on, or loaded to the
computers.
- Students are not allowed to open the system cover or
change the hardware configuration of their machine without explicit permission
from the instructor.
- During the first week of the semester the lab assistant
will post his schedule on the bulletin board. He/she will be available
during the specified periods to assist the students and checkout documents,
tools, and equipment.
- No equipment may be removed from the lab without the
explicit permission of the instructor or lab assistance.
- You must read your email frequently to stay in touch
with your instructor.
- Students are expected to attend all classes. Four points
will be deducted from students course average for each absence after the
second. Points will not be deducted if you are absent because of a medical
reason with university approved letter or if you get approval from the
instructor one week ahead of time.
- Please do not attend a class if you are arriving late.
Your late arrival disturbs the flow of the session.
- There is a penalty of 20 points per day for late submission
of any deliverable or document.
- If necessary to the project conduct, teams may be assigned
a locker in the lab. The team will be responsible for securing the locker
(a bicycle lock, etc.), and providing a key or combination to the locker
to the lab assistant.
- Achived documents and lab equipments may be checked out
from the lab assistant or
- Instructor, and returned when finished using them or
before the maximum checkout period.
- All lab tools/ equipment must be checked in by both CSE
4316 and 4317 students by the semester end. Students continuing into CSE
4317 will check out the needed tools/ equipment the beginning of the following
semester, or special arrangements can be made for between semesters use.
A hold on the course grade will be effected on all students who have not
complied with these "sign- off" requirements.
- Students found violating any policies will suffer a decrease
in their course grade.
